Mt. Fuji-san

When I first thought about going to Japan, climbing Mt. Fuji had never crossed my mind. It wasn't until my second week in Japan, that Linda and I started thinking about climbing the mountain. We really had no idea what we were getting into. We had only heard stories about people reaching the top. Before we went, I tried to get as much information about it as possible. I emailed a few classmates my 'Fuji guide' to see if they were interested. Time was not on our side so we decided to go on a Friday right after class. Now, usually after class I am so exhausted so we thought, oh well we'll just get dinner in Shinjuku and sleep on the bus. Well that did not happen and that day, I had a two hour review session after class so I don't even know how I got the energy to make it near the 9th station. There was a point where I was actually sleep hiking, the others can vouch for me. The 8th station is a killer. Well, it was still an incredible experience and we didn't make it to the top but we made it very close. I think if we had a good night's sleep then we would have reached the summit. Our main purpose that day was to see the sunrise and we were able to accomplish that. Next time, my purpose will be to reach the summit. I've already decided that I'm coming back to defeat Fuji-san after I get married.
