Last week of web design class

Our last week of class was a relatively easy one. Adding a movie to your webpage is simply knowing which tags to use. If you have a video clip that you want to put on the web, you can display it on your website using embed tags. The same can be said for adding sound to your webpage.

Feel free to use sample movie...

Third week of web design class

Week 3 consisted of a quick discussion on the difference of website appearance on mac and pc.
Working with image maps to create multiple links on an image. We used sample files in week 3's imgmaps folder.

Second week of web design madness

This week's web design class was fun. We had three new students attend, bringing the class total to 8 folks. Now onto the brief summary of week two..

Our first topic was "site architecture / site mapping" which is the practice of organizing and interrelating content so the reader remains oriented and gets answers. A site map contains an index of the links of your web site in a hierarchical fashion and is generally good if you have a fairly large website (20+ pages). The...

First week of web design class

Last week's web design class was much more successful than the previous week. We had about four students attend. Each week I'll try to write up a summarize to the class and provide links to the handouts for those who miss a class. The source for most of these notes were taken from the internet and it has been edited so that you are reading only the necessary information. The original document source is usually provided at the end of the handout incase you want to do more research.

eMail corruption

I'm sitting here waiting for gmail and hotmail to load and I was just thinking to myself, what if one day a hacker decided to cripple these giants? I've used up about 800megs on gmail and I have a lot of info stored there. If that actually happened one day then I'd be so screwed.

That got me thinking, I have to back up my emails onto my harddrive. The problem? The fact that it will probably hog up nearly 1G of space on my computer. So now I really have to buy an external to back...

Drawing class

Just finished up some homework for drawing class. We're practicing drawing cubes and boxes at the moment and it's quite fun. Think it's so easy drawing the perfect box? Not at first because the lines are a bit intimidating.

You see the lines on the box one way but then when you draw it on paper and take a look at it again, they don't match up. Either you have to accept that this is the way you see it or practice until you're happy with the results. I'm taking the later route and I just...

Searching for a good host to park brikee.com lead me to Site5.com. They offered plenty of space, and reliable hosting at an affordable price. I checked out the reviews for their company on several websites and came to the same conclusion: one of the top hosting sites out there.

I just signed up with their service last week and was surprised at how quickly and easy their customer service made...
